The Payoff

Pink Ribbon

It has been a very busy week for all of us this week. On Tuesday, we met to discuss our upcoming winter event, Jolly Pa Looza. This event will be held at the Johnsburg Community Club on Saturday December 4th. It will feature two great local bands, 50/50 raffles, silent auctions and an incredible meat raffle. Chad Miller puts together a top notch display of items to win. Save the date, and come back to our site for more information.

We also got involved in a wonderful opportunity put together by Johnsburg J-Hawk lightweight coach Paul Polep. He and his wife thought it would be a great opportunity to raise awareness for those with breast cancer by wearing pink as part of the uniform. We of course, wanted to be involved. So, the coaches decided to put together one last game, Johnsburg #1 vs Johnsburg #2 having the boys wear pink one last time. We decided that because the boys participated in the “exhibition” that we would donate $1000.00 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation on their behalf. What an exciting night it turned into. The boys were able to play on the high school field, under the lights. It was an exciting game that ended in a 12 – 12 tie. I think the parents and coaches walked away with a sense of pride seeing the kids play that final game. Even though I was a terrible announcer during the game I still had a ton of fun.

It does not stop there. We also decided to present checks to the Chase Benjamin Freund Fund and Barb Galluzi fund as well. A handful of us presented a check for $3500.00 to Barb in hopes that we can contribute to her long road with stage four lung cancer. I received an e-mail from her daughter that said they were very, very successful Saturday. I was glad to see so many people supporting such a nice lady. My wife and I did not attend the Chase Benjamin Freund benefit but I spoke with one of its organizers and a Walla-Pa-Looza volunteer Tammy Quinn and she told me that the Brat Stop was packed. They don’t have a final number yet but I am guessing that our community stepped up again. Tammy stopped by on Sunday and we wrote a check out for $1500.00. Again, I hope our donation helps this family as well.

As much as I love to give, I also feel like I could do more. With more help, more sponsors, more attendees I know we can. So, please keep our organization in mind when you are planning activities to attend or things to do. I can promise you we will not only entertain you but you will know your money will go people in need and places that help.

Have a great week.

Craig

  • Being a volunteer for WALLA-PA-LOOZA one knows it is “satisification guaranteed.”! We all SEE where the money we raised goes to help people in our community. This IS very satisfying for us all. Our focus is to HELP THOSE IN NEED, and we gather together to make this happen. Thanks has to go out to those board members and Craig, our President, who make the wise decisions for all of our dedicated volunteers.

Looking forward to our Winter Fund Raiser JOLLY-PA-LOOZA ON SAT. DECEMBER 4TH!!!
