A Jolly Wrap up

Craig Wallace and Mike Betts - Jolly-Pa-Looza

I wanted to give you an update on our event last weekend at the Johnsburg Community Club. Jolly-Pa-Looza went off without a hitch. We had over 225 enter the door, pay, drink, donate and dance.

With the weather we had on that Saturday we feel humbled by the folks that braved the weather to come celebrate with us. The meat raffles were incredible, the beers were cold and the bands kicked some serious ass.

As I am writing this, I do not have the final number but I can say that we raised plenty! I always say it, but we could not do this without your help.

So, speaking of help, I wanted to give a shout out to the following folks:

  • Paul Anest – Paul, your giving nature warms my heart. I cannot thank you enough
  • Jeff Collis – Jeff, I appreciate your donations every year and one year I will win those tickets
  • Half Times Pizza – Fritz is very supportive of our events. He also makes great pizza.
  • Tammy Quinn – Thanks to you and your family for getting us the Weber Grills
  • Johnsburg Mens Club – The members donated time behind the bar and donated the tips back to us. Thanks guys!
  • Best Bargains – Thank you for the discounts on our meat!
  • PB ART – Nick your ideas amaze me, just fix the boob will ya?

.. and to the bands …

As I sit here in my office, debating what to work on next I have been thinking about all the new faces that showed up at our event and that really put a smile on my face. I am hoping that you had such a great time that you will tell your friends that they have to attend WP3 the last Saturday in July. We are already planning to bring the house down this summer! Mark it on the calendar, load it into your smart phone and get it tattooed to your ass.

By the way, I know I kill Chad Miller every time I sing "All Summer Long" with the bands, but it’s the only song I know MOST of the words to and truthfully, it almost feels like the Walla-Pa-Looza theme song. All of us grew up together and at one point lost track of each other but now, we are one big happy family, making new memories and giving others hope while doing it. I am not sure why, but that song walks me through all the good times we have had together and hopes for many, many more.

Craig

PS. This ones for you Chad!

  • I was also very impressed with Rhythmbone. It was the first time I had actually seen them live and they were great.

Secondly – Cover Blondz was excellent (and quite patient). Thanks guys for putting on a great show. I still have video I want to post, just have to work through it – Craig takes most of my time – I try to make him look good.

Thirdly, this cracked me up: “I know I kill Chad Miller every time I sing All Summer Long with the bands, but it’s the only song I know MOST of the words to”.

.. which I why I posted the video as “executive editor”. Tell me people – does he really know the words?

This was such a fun event – can’t wait until WP3.

  • If you know most of the words to the song, then why don’t you ever SING THEM? Just teasing you, Craig. It gives me great pleasure to.

Rhythmbone should defiintely be considered for more Walla gigs – and not in an opening spot! They were CHOICE beyond CHOICE!

Again, a great event! The gang (dressed in purple or not) did a great job!! Congrats!

  • I want Craig to add “Walk Like An Egyptian” to the set. That was choice.
