I started writing this blog exactly one week before the Jessica Bertulis event that will be taking place on March 19th at the Johnsburg Community Club. The event will feature music from Johnsburg’s own Bony Knees, Silent auctions, 50/50 raffles and meat raffles.

Today, I am spending most of the day putting together silent auction items to be raffled off at the fundraiser. It was so nice to see all of the individual families that donated items not to mention the companies as well.

Jessica's Silent Auction Donation

Cindy Bertulis stopped over with very nice basket full of games and other fun activities for the silent auction. It was actually donated by Jessica for her own fund raiser. I am hoping that Jessica’s donation gets the highest silent auction amount of all the things we have. That would be the perfect ending to the evening. I hope the people attending realize how hard it must be for the Bertulis family to allow people to put together a benefit on their behalf. I know I would be extremely humbled, but as I have said time and time again, if my family needed assistance I would hope that someone somewhere would help us.

I have also decided to put up a little silent auction item of my own. A steak dinner for two (2) and wine and cigars with Joanne and I this summer at our home. Bidding starts at $40.00.

By the way, the Bertulis family has had some very good news this week. Jessica has started to walk. I am not sure if I had talked about this but, when the surgeon did surgery on Jessica some of her nerves were severed. This week she made some incredible progress. She keeps on working hard.

Well, it’s back to work on the silent auction items and making copies for the flyers our volunteers will be handing out at the McHenry Rotary St. Patrick’s Day Parade. I hope my family stays warm. I won’t be attending but I am sure our parade chair Mike Betts will have everything organized and ready to go.

Have a great St. Patrick’s Day and I hope to see all of you on March 19th.
