It’s Been Awhile

Hey, I know it’s been a few weeks. Sorry about that. I love to keep everyone up to speed and up to date with what is happening with Walla-Pa-Looza but my job, children and general living have taking me off track a bit. I’ll try to get you up to speed today.

We here at the Walla-World-Wide Headquarters have been getting our flyers ready to pepper the greater McHenry area announcing our upcoming event on December 3rd at the Johnsburg Community Club. This event, Jolly-Pa-Looza, will feature 3 bands, our famous meat raffles, food, 50/50 raffle and other cool items. This will also be the last chance to purchase a raffle ticket to win one of three really great items. They are: a Samsung 3D TV, DVD Package, a black 64GB iPad 2 and finally $300 cash. Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. If you are interested in buying some feel free to e-mail me at or if you think you might be interested in selling some, we can arrange that too!

Well, as you can see, getting flyers designed, approved, tickets printed, items for raffles, bands lined up and answering e-mails takes a lot of time. So, when I received a complaint from a gentleman yesterday that “the people in Walla-Pa-Looza are too hard to get a hold of” I was not shocked at first but then I sat back and thought “What? Are you kidding me?” If anyone has ever had any contact with any of us I would say we do our best to return calls, e-mails, Facebook posts and so forth. I understand that we are a 501c3 Not For Profit and have an organizational structure but WE DO NOT GET PAID! This is a volunteer position. So, if I am busy trying to earn money with my real job or spending time with my family or just reading a book once in awhile I am sorry. I truly do my best to offer as much time to Walla-Pa-Looza as I can. I also, get a lot of grief from Mrs. Walla too! She tells me I do WAY too much. Maybe she is right, but I enjoy it. I love being part of JBBL, The Johnsburg Lions and Johnsburg Men’s Club. I like helping others. I was hurt by those comments and I take way too many things to heart and maybe I need to get some thicker skin. Well, anyway, I do my best.

I touched on the bands that will be involved with our December 3rd event and I wanted to make sure we gave them some props! They are: BarFly, Schramm & Weber and HawnkeFunk. Our in house sound guy Dave Moravec will keep them sounding great as we raise money for local and national charities. If you haven’t seen any of these bands check them out. We always try to put the best possible entertainment together for your listening pleasures. Besides where can you here that much music for $5 bucks?

Not sure many of you follow our Facebook page but the recent passing of Barb Galluzzi who had lost her long battle to cancer this past week was felt by many of us in Walla-Pa-Looza. Not only did we have high hopes for Barb but we feel for her daughter Candi who ended up becoming a volunteer for Walla-Pa-Looza because of our help with Barb’s fund.  My prayers go out to Barb and the rest of her family.

I wanted to wish all of you a very happy Thanksgiving and I hope to see you at our event on December 3rd, Johnsburg Community Club, doors open at 6pm.
