The Hump Day before Jolly …

Yep, it’s a mid day blog. I have had a lot of things going on this week and figured it might be best to throw together a last minute plea of sorts to make sure you let everyone know that on Saturday, December 3rd, at the Johnsburg Community Club Walla-Pa-Looza presents JOLLY PA LOOZA. An evening of music, friends, meat and raffles all to aid local families and help find a cure!

For those of you that enjoy a quick history lesson, I thought I would explain to you how Jolly Pa Looza became “The step sister to Walla-Pa-Looza”. Three years ago, we had just finished our first Walla-Pa-Looza event and we felt so good about the monies raised the fellowship, music and fun that we didn’t want to stop. So, I called the Johnsburg Community Club and inquired about what it might cost to have an indoor version of Walla-Pa-Looza. The first Jolly showcased two bands; Blush and Always Frantic. Both bands had played for free just as they had for our outdoor event that past summer. It helps to have a few friends in bands as I was able to hit up many more over the next few years. Anyway, we assembled a great group of volunteers to sell 50/50 raffle tickets, Silent auction items and much more. Thousands of dollars raised and 3 years later, I am still here begging, pleading and hoping that you can find a sitter, bring a date or grab a bunch of friends and spend money and of course, attend our 3rd Jolly Pa Looza.

So, there is the history lesson, now for the life lesson. Over the past few years, I have seen some incredible community spirit. Never before have I witnessed so many “spin off’s” of what we do. Yes, I know, raffles and community participation have been around since the dawn of time but seriously, I am more aware. Call it age, maturity (doubt that) or whatever. I might have touched on this in a prior blog, but I love seeing this community rally around friends, neighbors and co-workers. It seems like I am invited to an event to help someone every week, although, I cannot attend every one of them I am thankful for the invite. It shows me that I was not the only one that was brought up to be a part of something so unselfish and unconditional. Yes, I know, Craig get to the lesson….

Here goes, if you get the chance, make a difference. You don’t have to be perfect! We all know I am far from that! But, I have made so made so many new friends, met so many people because of our efforts that those memories will last forever. As Eminem says, “You can do anything you set your mind to man”.

Ok, maybe that last line from Eminem was more for me than you, but you get the picture right?

So, with that said, help me make that difference. We are using monies this year to help a local resident here in Johnsburg and to help fund “the largest backyard party” Johnsburg has ever seen. Walla-Pa-Looza 2012.

Drink, Dance and Donate……

See ya on Saturday night!
